Introduction to Seongsu-dong

Seongsu-dong is an industrial district that is hard to find in downtown Seoul. Therefore, Seongsu-dong maintains the exterior of many red brick factories built during the industrial development period. With the development of the city, many factories moved out of the city, but the reason why there are still many red brick buildings in Seongsu-dong is because of the red brick project being carried out by the Seoul government and Seongdong-gu government. Just as Bukchon in Korea has become a representative image of Bukchon because of its traditional houses, the Seongsu-dong government also wants to create a representative image of them with red bricks. Above all, in the case of red brick buildings, there is support for construction and repair costs, so owners who want to start a new business want to reflect the characteristics of red bricks as much as possible when making interior decisions with these benefits. Among the buildings in Seongsu-dong, where you can see a lot of red brick buildings, there is a unique building that is painted only in black. Thanks to the exterior of a windowless building, passers-by are curious about what kind of building it is. Can you imagine what it's like?

What does Musinsa want to do in the [soldout]?

The first floor is composed of a Soldout office, the second floor is a Soldout store, and the third floor is a rooftop, but only the second floor is open to visitors. The first thing you see on the second floor is the display case of Nike Air Force 1. It was designed by WGNB (Wallga & Brothers), a Korean space design studio, and is a brand with the motto of "Looking at the same thing and thinking differently." Among the main spaces created, the most widely known space to the public is the male actor's house in the Korean drama Secret Garden, Kyobo Bookstore(Korea's representative bookstore brand), and Kakao Friends Store.
Like choosing a rare bottle of wine from a winery, the store space became a shoener and designed it imagining choosing limited-edition shoes, and I think it's a space design that fits well with Musinsa's [soldout] concept. And the [soldout] logo on the front looks like it's broken at both ends, but if you look at it from the front, you can see exactly [soldout]. [soldout] also offers second-hand product sales and cleaning services, and I felt that it was designed to share the feeling of completion depending on the angle, using the process of creating perfect sneakers with new energy from broken or dirty sneakers. Already online, the platform called [soldout] is an application that allows you to purchase various limited sneakers and is very reliable in the Korean market. Opened to connect online to offline, the [soldout] Seongsu store seems to have all the spaces for shoes, from the examination room, packaging room, and care service center, where you can check the authenticity of shoes.
